Financial Aid

Financial aid is a VERY important aspect of your college application process.

Most colleges offer grants through their own institutions based on various things like your GPA, rank, or SAT/ACT scores. However, another aspect is your financial need. FAFSA and TASFA are great places to start. FAFSA is for U.S. citizens all over the country, while TASFA is specifically for non-US citizens who live in Texas. Both of these applications have the potential, based on your family's financial status, to award students grants and loans to help cover the cost of attending their prospective universities and colleges. These must be completed every year your student attends school if they want to receive federal or state financial aid.

In addition, the CSS Profile can grant additional institutional financial aid. Only certain universities use this program, so it's important to check THIS LIST of participating institutions before applying. Generally, the university will have a link to the CSS profile on their financial aid or admissions webpages if it is accepted. The CSS Profile is provided by CollegeBoard, and costs a fee to use. However, this has the potential to grant you greater sums of financial aid through the university so if it is available, it is definitely recommended to fill out and submit.
